Our Beliefs
Doctrinal Statement
  • We believe in the Holy Scripture, accepting fully the writings of the Old and New Testaments as the very Word of God.
  • We believe there is one God eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in the Dietey of Christ, His virgin birth, His shed blood for atonement, Hid bodily ressurection, His assention into Heaven there to be our Intercessor.
  • We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts our sin, makes believers children of God through the new birth, assuring them of Heaven, and by His indwelling enables Christians to live a godly life.
  • We believe that all persons are by nature and choice sinful and lost and have within themselves no possible means of salvation
  • We believe in salvation by -grace through faith, that salvation is the free gift of God, not by any virtue or works of man, but received only by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ;, that all true believers possess the gift of eternal life, a perfect, righteousness, sonship in the family of God, and the divine guarantee that they shall never perish.
  • We believe in the existence of Satan, the deceiver, and god of this present. We believe that he was defeated and judged at the cross, and therefore his final doom is certain.
  • We believe in the second coming of Christ, that His return from Heaven will be personable, visible and glorious, the time being unrevealed but always imminent.
  • We believe in Heaven as the Final Destination of the saved, and in Hell as the Final Destination of the unsaved.
  • We believe in the priesthood of all believers, that Christ is our Great High Priest and through Him every born-again person has direct access into God's presence without the need of a human priest, that the believer has the right and responsibility to personally study and interpret the Scriptures guided by the Holy Spirit.
  • We believe that a New Testament Church is an organized body of born again baptized believers practicing scriptural ordinances and actively engaged in fulfilling the Great Commission.
  • We believe the two scriptural ordinances given to the local church are baptism by immersion of believers only, and the Lord's Supper to be partaken in by professing Christians.
  • We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen 1:26-27.) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
  • We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen 2:18-25.) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Cor. 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb. 13:4.) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.
  • We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matt 15:18-20; 1 Cor. 6:9-10.)
  • We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of First Baptist Church as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the First Baptist Church’s members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by First Baptist Church in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality. (Matt 5:16; Phil 2:14-16; 1 Thess. 5:22.)
  • We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31.) Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of First Baptist Church.
  • We believe God has ordained marriage and defined it as the covenant relationship between a man, a woman, and Himself, First Baptist Church will only recognize marriages between a biological man and a biological woman. Further, the pastors and staff of First Baptist Church shall only participate in weddings and solemnize marriages between one man and one woman. Finally, the facilities and property of First Baptist Church shall only host weddings between one man and one woman.
